It’s simple: Fabrics Matter. What you put on your body affects your health, as well as that of your baby and the planet.
That’s why we meticulously source the world’s most luxurious eco-fabrics from niche producers around the globe. 90% vegan and recycled, and nearly all OEKO-TEX ®certified, they enhance your wellness and respect the environment. As a bonus, they’re naturally breathable, cooling and among the world’s softest textiles. Learn more about their respective benefits below.
Among the Earth’s most sustainable plants, bamboo is naturally organic and easily replenished — it matures in just two years, yet biodegrades more quickly than synthetic oil-based textiles. It also looks and feels like silk, with a gentle drape and built-in elasticity that adapts to your changing shape. But those are just a few of the reasons we’ve selected it for Emilia George. Our OEKO-TEX®-certified bamboo is also inherently breathable and cooling, highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. In short: It works as hard as you do, without breaking a sweat.
Incredibly soft with a subtle sheen, our organic, recycled cupro is often described as the vegan, machine-washable silk alternative. A biproduct of classic cotton production, this luxurious fabric is formed from downy cotton fibers that have customarily been discarded because they were too small to spin. Its closed-loop, traceable process uses 70% renewable energy and 100% reclaimed water, with any necessary chemicals extracted afterwards. Biodegradable and easily recyclable, this innovative textile is also breathable, hypoallergenic, absorbent and anti-static. And like other regenerated cellulose fibers, it’s wrinkle- and shrink-resistant, making it a win-win for future and new mamas on the go.
It’s not a fabric, but it still matters. Relating to textile processing, OEKO-TEX is a standardized global designation given to fabrics that have been third-party certified as safe for human use and contact (take note, nursing babies) and free of more than 100 chemicals or sub- stances known to be harmful to human health. As noted above, nearly all of our fabrics carry this essential label.
Technically advanced but rooted in nature, Tencel Luxe is an environmentally responsible fiber created from sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees that are farmed without irrigation or pesticides. It’s converted into fabric using a closed-loop, low-emissions process in which 99% of the chemicals and solvents are recovered and recycled. No bleach is required, which defines it as a TCF (Totally Chlorine-Free) product. It’s also biodegradable. But it’s credentials extend beyond its earth-friendly properties. Tencel Luxe is as soft as butter, incredibly breathable, absorbent and machine washable, allowing it to put in long hours while remaining wrinkle-resistant with a beautiful drape.
